Hi, I’m Denisha Ramos-Cubero.
I’m the founder of Reading with Coquí, an educator, literacy advocate, children’s book author, and lifelong learner.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master of Education in Literacy, and I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Education (Ed.D.).
Throughout my professional journey, I’ve worked in early childhood education, literacy, language development, coaching, and educational leadership. These experiences have strengthened my belief that education goes far beyond the classroom. It’s about creating opportunities, building confidence, and helping people discover what they’re capable of achieving.
Why I created Reading with Coquí
As a Puerto Rican living outside my home island, I understand how deeply language connects us to our identity, culture, and sense of belonging. My own experiences navigating different languages and environments inspired me to create a space where others could feel comfortable learning, growing, and expressing themselves.
Reading with Coquí began with a simple mission: to help people find their voice. But as Reading with Coquí continued to grow, so did my vision.
Through bilingual children’s literature, educational pop-ups, author visits, community events, and speaking engagements, I’m creating opportunities for children, families, educators, and communities to connect through language and literacy.
My debut bilingual children’s book, Coquí Can’t Sing, is a reflection of that mission. It’s a story inspired by Puerto Rican culture that reminds readers that finding your voice takes courage, patience, and perseverance.
As I continue my journey as an educator, author, entrepreneur, and doctoral student, my goal remains the same: to inspire others to embrace who they are, celebrate where they come from, and never stop learning.
